DOES THIS MAKE ME TRUE BLUE?

Today was spent doing a number of true Australian things.

:: I spent the day in the garden among the native Callistemon's, Grevillia's and Ficofolia's.
:: I also spent the day swatting away about a gazillion flies (yes, really).  What is with these awful flies here that just sit on and stick to your face!?
:: I drank some fine Aussie beer
:: I baked lamingtons
:: I listened to Triple J's Hottest 100
:: I had a counter meal.  Pronounced "Cowna" Meal
:: I watched the Australian Open

But, I will tell you what I won't be doing.  Wearing an Australian flag around my shoulders...

Well, again.  Probably.

But, in all seriousness, today is a day I truly give thanks that I can live in this beautiful country.  That I can live and raise my children freely.  That we have been blessed with opportunities and basic rights that other's have not been blessed with.

And while I will always call New Zealand home, Australia is home now too.

Happy Australia Day

BAD EGG

Do you know what I'm really crap at?

Peeling boiled eggs.

It just seems so wrong to have our lovely ladies laying daily for us, just for me to butcher them.

So, pray tell, what are your tricks to getting the perfectly peeled boiled egg?

THE WEEK THAT WAS

This week was largely about icy poles.  With nearly a dozen oranges needing to be used up, what better thing to do with them but to turn them into frozen treats.

1-3: Getting sticky
4: Some of us like to eat texta's in this house
5: Scary spider
6: Sharing more icy poles on days where the heat keeps us indoors
7: At the salon

HOUSEKEEPING

Hello!

I've been pretty busy this week, doing a little bit of housekeeping here.  A bit of a tidy up and rearrangement of the furniture, so to speak.

Actually, I've done a fair few hours worth.  That's a fair few hours more than what I've done of REAL house work.  (I do try, but housework is not my strong point).

Anyway, I'm pretty darn chuffed with the results.  Working out CSS and HTML and that there is more to this symbol /  than this face :/  which is how felt for a good part of the process!

Have a good weekend friends. I'll tell you what I WON'T be doing - looking up HTML codes!  (Or housework, probably).

FLEETING

To all my family and friends in New Zealand.

I'll be making a fleeting visit in the next few weeks.

Arriving Friday 15th February in the evening, and leaving first thing Tuesday 19th.  It will just be Mila and I.  We'll be celebrating birthday's, life and being with family.  But I do hope to see as many of your beautiful faces as I can.

Staying in usual places.  Drop me a line!

Stills: A Weekly Collection

:: Music and gifts from Deda
:: Love those legs
:: A Serbian Christmas
:: A tired look, but refuses to sleep in.  And that cheeky wee face.
:: Cevapi on coals
:: Daddy did the dressing
:: Sorbet and Gelato
:: Family painting session (yes, somebody is obsessed, and it's not me with the chevron)

This week was Johnny's last week of holidays.  Our week was filled with family gatherings, trips to the park, the pools, the beach and the shops.  I consciously left my camera at home for the most part.  Instead just wanting to be with the family.  I actually forgot all about this project until last night.  I knew it would be a challenge, but I didn't think I'd be stumbling on week 2!

Let's hope we all get through this week unscathed!

Here's to a happy week friends.

Stills: A weekly collection

Johnny and I didn't see the New Year in (although I'm sure we were awake at midnight with the fireworks that were going off).  Instead, our alarms were set for 4am.  The time to get the car packed with sleeping bodies and bags, and to depart on our 1100km journey to Newcastle.

We arrived 12 hours later, with hyperactive kids doing Gangnam Style in the backseat.  But it was all worth it to spend some time with our beautiful friends

2013 kicked off to a great start with the greatest family holiday.

Thank you so much Mel, Gav and Isla for hosting us and showing us all the incredible places in your town.  We all love spending time with you and miss you already.  Seriously, Newcastle is set up so well for families.  There was always something to do, and for the most part it was free!.  So many memories were made.  We can't wait to do it again!
